Why is regular exercise important?

I will be explaining to you three main points to why regular exercise is important. How you can live longer, keeps you in a good mood and also keeps you healthy

First point for this explanation is about you and me living longer for the rest of our lives. Regular exercise helps us to live longer by being fit and always eating healthy food. Eating fruits and veggies will help you increase the level of having heart disease.

Secondly exercise also keeps you in a good mood for the day. By walking in the morning for 30 mins each day, stretching, running and other exercises. When you have finished doing all of that you will feel more happier and more excited for the day that is coming ahead.  

Finally my last main point of regular exercise is to keep your body in a healthy weight. Meaning to eat healthy and it helps you lower the risk of some diseases including type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

I believe these three main points will help you live longer, keeping you in a good mood and keeping you healthy are reasons why regular exercise is important. I hope you take this information and use this to keep you body strong.

Today I have finished off my practice explanation writing. This is to help with my test next week. The topic for this explanation writing is Why is regular exercise important? Term 4 Immersion Assembly

Hello people, the is the start of a new term which is Term 4. The topic for this term is called Musical Madness!!!. Teachers from different teams have created their own skit or item during the school holidays to present to the students of Pt England for the last term of 2017. Each team did a very good job entertaining us with their awesome skits and singing. 

To start off this term we had an eye-opening performance by the remarkable senior management team and one astonishing teacher who are followed by Mr Burt, Mrs Nua, Mr Somerville, Mr Jacobson and Mr Wiseman (astonishing teacher). They were singing their new song Musical Madness Saves the Day. Each teacher had an instrument to play. Mr 
Burt was playing the guitar, Mrs Nua had her tambourine, Mr Somerville was rocking out his drums, Mr Jacobson playing with his trumpet and Mr Wiseman playing the bass. Together they made a wonderful band.

Team 1 teachers did a item when they were playing cards and listening to music. There focus for this term is listening to music and how it affects their emotions. Team 2 did an amazing performance of Miss Gaston singing "The Lion sleeps tonight". As she was singing other teachers came in with different instruments. Miss Peck was playing the castanet, Miss Tumahai was playing the xylophone and last was Miss Nalder playing the bongos. 

Teachers from Team 3 made a movie about songs in real life. They were also lip syncing to different types of songs as they were talking to each other. The teachers involved Mr Moran, Miss King, Miss Eadie and Miss Davis. They were singing different songs. Team 4 teachers made a little movie kind of like carpool karaoke but they were singing different songs in a car. Each of them had a turn driving while they were singing their hearts out!! The teachers are followed by Mr Somerville, Mr Goodwin, Miss Scanlan, Miss Parent, Miss West and Miss Buchanan. 

Last but not least was the wonderful Team 5 teachers who performed an excellent item. The group of teachers are Mr Wiseman, Mrs Ilaoa, Mrs Tele'a, Ms Tapuke and Whaea Kelly. They were acting as if they were a family and they also watched the movie Lion King for their family movie night. There was different music in the audio and whenever it changes their emotions change too. It was really funny and amazing.

My favourite was Team 4 and 3 and 5. They had wonderful movies and made me laugh the whole time. It is pretty sad for me because it is the last Immersion assembly before I go to college.

Goodbye Mrs Judd

I will take this opportunity to say a very farewell to the awesome Mrs Judd who has been teaching in Room 4 for three terms and now she is going to leave Pt England School with her husband to Tauranga. Mrs Judd you have been an awesome teacher for team 5 and was always humble and helpful to the students you have taught. But on the bright side we are happy for you as you will have the best time in Tauranga with your husband. I will miss the crazy dance moves and your talented voice during class. Wishing you the very best for the future and also your husband's job. Ka kite ano Mrs Judd. We love you. 

Moon & Tides

This is a presentation that me and my friend Inez have made about the moon and tides. Together we wrote a short paragraph explaining how to moon is pulling the sea to itself with its gravitational force. Which is related to the theme for this term. Guardians of the Galaxy.

Why is education important to our lives?

Today in my speech I will be sharing to you about Education and how it is good for students in school. As us students in Pt England we are really lucky to be using our own individual netbooks to help us with our learning and education.

Imagine if there was no education in the world. None of us children will learn how to read, how to write and also the most important thing in education is opening opportunities for children to have in the future. Over 70 million children in the world don’t have a school to go to because their are some poor countries that don’t have schools that are built.

Why is education important for children around the world? So that they can have a better job in the future and to have a better life so that they can help out with their parents when they need help. I have read one article about how many children have suffered without having education and most parents are really desperate to get their child into school.

Education should also be free too because not that much families can’t pay that enough money to get their children into school. Education is not all about having a good life in the future, it is about having good knowledge and good lessons in life. If I were a prime minister I would think about the poor families who can’t afford money and give them the chance to have free education for children in Auckland.

This will be the end of my speech and I hope you have picked up a few things of “why education is important” and “why education should be free”. So you think about those families who don’t have that much money. So it’s your turn to help kids have education without any hesitation.

My reading group and I have been reading a text called sniff, swing, swipe. We had to make links between different parts of a text. I was learning about Kea's where they live and other things.

First Blog post for Term 2 2017: Holiday Highlights

During the holidays I have been doing a lot of interesting things and also cleaning up my house when my parents go work. Helping my mum with the washing and also watching movies on my sisters Chromebook.

My first overall favourite highlight I did in the Holidays was watching movies with my sister overnight and making my own breakfast and drinking my hot beverage Milo. The breakfast I made during the holidays was scrambled eggs, with toast and also top it off with melted cheese on my scrambles eggs YUMMY!!

My second overall favourite highlight I did in the holidays was to pick up my grandma from the airport who just came from Australia. Myself and my mum went to the airport and stayed there for about four hours. Her flight was delayed three times and we just had a little break and head to the Mc Donald's station and buy something for us to eat. 

After waiting 4-5 hours my grandma finally arrived from the plane. I was so excited to meet her and excited for her to meet me again. My mum was happy with joy to see my grandma. We then left the airport and go do some shopping. 

I also went to my Great-Grandma's funeral. It was a sad moment for my family and my other extended family. My mum was one of the grandchildren of her grandma. So my mum and her cousins went to the funeral home and dressed up my great-grandma. My mum's family and all other extended family gathered together as a family a had a prayer service and our final goodbyes and kisses to her.

Two weeks of school holidays have been really relaxing and I hope the next two weeks of holidays will be very very exciting.

I am going to explain to you 4 special places I go to in my community.

The first special place that I am going to write is about school. School is good for children under the age of 5-13 year old's. School is special to me because you get educated by wonderful teachers who help you to learn many things about subjects. Such as reading, writing, science and maths. In school maths is my favourite subject. I love to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

This paragraph is my second special place and it is church. Every Sunday I go church with my family and learn the stories about god. When it is nearly the end of the year. we celebrate by having our youth perform dances and music. We often go church service on Wednesdays and have choirs. Church is special to me because it is the one thing that is always important to me and my family.  

Another special place to me is my home. Whenever i go somewhere far from home. I always feel I bit sad. Everyday I do chores and help clean the whole house. I sometimes cook breakfast for my siblings and help out my dad with the shopping. It is special to me because I am always with my family everywhere we go.

My last and best special place in my community is going to the  beach with my family. The beach that I go to is Tahuna Toreo. Not very often I go there to feed the ducks and lay down on the sand. This is one of my favourite special places in my community. I love to go to beaches and hang around with friends and family.

I have now explained 4 places that are special to me. One of my favourites is Tahuna Toreo. Some people have their own special places in the community. But this is my favourite one.     
Special Place:

One of the special places in the world is my home. My home is a special place because my family are there for me to keep me safe. I will be explaining 3 reasons why home is a special place to me.

As for some people say “home sweet home”. I love my home so much that every time I go somewhere far. I will always say “I miss home”. In my lovely house I live with my parents, my 2 siblings (Amelia & William) and also my grandpa. I have my first reason why home is a special place to me. It is because I get to do chores such as washing the dishes, cleaning our bedrooms, vacuuming, cleaning the shoes etc.

My second reason is that lots of my family members from my mum’s side and my dad’s side often comes and visits us when we are at home. We then have a break and chitchat for a little until we feel our stomachs rumbling. So we head to the kitchen and snack on some toast and biscuits and as for our beverage we drink Milo or Tea or just plain water or juice. For dinner my dad drives himself with his car to buy 2 buckets from KFC so that we can munch on YUMMY!!!! I have a lot of people in my family who are all around the world. Part of my extended family lives in Australia, here in Auckland, New Zealand and also in Tonga.

The third reason why my home is special because it is warm and cozy to snuggle in. In my house the are 3 bedrooms. 1 bedroom for my grandpa, 1 for my parents and my youngest brother and 1 bedroom for me and my sister. Each bedroom is so comfy and restful that I always wake up late in the morning for school.

This has now come to an end of explaining why my home is a special place in the community. I have explained 3 reasons why and also my introduction and conclusion.

This is my edited writing that I have written for my writing test from the past few weeks. I this explanation writing I have written about what place is special to me. The special place that is special to me is my home. I love my home really and I like when my family cherishes the memories we have had in our lovely home. I might have explained in my previous writing all the special places that is special to me but instead I chose my home to be my special place. It says in my previous writing that Tahuna Toreo is a special place in my community but since I have been editing. I have now found out what my true special place is.

Title	My Idea of a Fun Weekend
Introduction	Today I am going to explain to you 3 main  ideas of having a fun weekend.
Information 1st element	The first idea out of my 3 ideas i have is making diy crafts with your siblings or your friends. The reason why I have picked this is because it is a fun thing to do in the week and you can be creative by drawing, painting and designing your artwork.
Information 2nd element	Next is an idea i have come up with is going to the swimming pools with your family. I know some people might have write something like this but I am just writing this because most people love to go swimming in the weekends. You can spend time practising swimming lessons and also playing in the water.
Information 3rd element	My last idea of a fun weekend is to make or cook something in your kitchen. Making something is the weekends is a cool thing because make anything you want. You can make cookies, pizza, cakes, cupcakes all sorts of yummy treats you love.
Conclusion	This is now the end of my ideas for  a fun weekend. I hope you use these ideas for weekend and I hope your weekend will work out great!! The most enjoyable and best idea for a fun weekend must be making cookies or whatever treats you want eat.

Explanation writing : Why People Need to Drink Water

Title	Why People Need to Drink Water
Introduction	Today I am going to explain why people need to drink water and to stay hydrated throughout the days.
Information 1st element	People need to drink water so that they can be hydrated. If you are not hydrated and not drinking water that much. It will lead you to headaches. Humans also need to drink water because it is good for your health and it will help you survive.
Information 2nd element	We also need to drink so that we don’t have high blood pressure, it is also good for your skin to do it’s job of regulating your body temperature through sweating. If you drink more water. It will get out waste quicker.
Information 3rd element	Don’t drink too much water before you will have fatal diseases and it will cause the level of salt, or sodium in your blood to drop low. It is a condition called hyponatremia. That is also called water intoxication.
Conclusion	This is the end of my writing and I hope you've got more ideas of why water is good for you and why drinking too much water is not good for you.

The Kete of Knowledge

I am genuinely sorry for what you have been through. I desperately hope you are alright and safe with your family. I am also sorry for your granddaughters past and also her young brother.   

I am extremely sorry for your house being destroyed by the devastating earthquake that has been hit in North Canterbury. I understand that Sophia is buried inside the same plot with her little brother.

Many memories of your granddaughter will always be in your heart. It is good that you are shifting Sophia’s memorial stone and cross. To your new home. I hope you are safe and that you don’t have injuries, also your family.

I am a student from Pt England School, up north in Auckland. My name is Loseli and I am writing this letter to you for support of your family and your community.

This is a letter of support to the people who have been hit in Kaikorua Wellington and other places that the earthquake has hit. This letter has been written to the Waiau family. Their house has been destroyed by the terrifying earthquake. I really hope they are okay and that God will be with them. God Bless Waiau Family.

Rewriting Instructions

Pick up an egg, gently hit it against the side of a bowl and empty the contents into a clean bowl.	Grab an egg and crack it beside the bowl.
Open the fridge and take out the butter. Take off the lid. Get a knife and use it to scoop some butter. Rub the knife onto the toast.	Get the butter from the fridge, get the knife and scoop come butter out and rub it into the toast.
Hold the two shortest sides of paper and bend them together. Squeeze them so that the paper is now in half.	Get a piece of paper and fold it in half.
When you hear the sound of the whistle, move one leg in front of the other as quickly as you can.	If you hear the whistle run as fast as you can.
When player One had rolled the die, they should hand it to player Two, who should then roll it too. The person with the highest score moves their counter first.	When player one has it’s turn rolling the die. It is player two’s turn to roll the die. The player with the highest score moves their counter first.

This week for writing we have been looking at rewriting instructions. This was our writing for literacy. 

The Scientific Method

Title -  Fizzy Drink and Mentos Experiment

Purpose: What do you want to learn/find out?

Which drink has the biggest reaction to the mentos.

Hypothesis: Try to predict the answer to the problem. Another term for hypothesis is ‘educated guess’. This is usually stated like ” If I…(do something) then…(this will occur)

I think the biggest reaction might be the one that is desperately reacted to the mentos. I think it might explode a little bit because there was not that much liquid in it.

Materials: List everything you will need to conduct your experiment.

We used five different sodas: Coke, Diet Coke, Fanta, L&P, 7 Up, and Pepsi Packets of Mentos We used sellotape to put the mentos in it. After that we went outside so the sodas won’t fall out to the carpet. We then putted the mentos inside each one of the fizzy drinks.

Experiment procedure: The fun part! Design a test or procedure to confirm or disprove your hypothesis. Write down each step so that someone else could do the same experiment.

Get a pair of scissors or any kind of sharp object and create an hole in the middle of the soda cap. Get a piece of sellotape and stick 5 mentos onto it. Place the sticked mentos inside each of the caps and leave it there for someone to pull the sellotape to see how high it can go. Don’t forget to measure with a ruler.

Analysis/Data: Record what happened during the experiment.

When I looked at the mentos go down to the liquid, it fizzed up. Also the carbon dioxide released from the bottle which is also called gas. All of the sodas exploded a little bit, maybe because there was not that much liquid in it.

Conclusion: Review the data and check to see if your hypothesis was correct.

As I was saying about the prediction not all of the foam went up because it failed. So I was right about the mentos and fizzy drink experiment.

This is a scientific method I was working on. I have been working on it for about 25 minutes and this is about the experiments we had during the past few weeks. I hope you enjoy.

Immersion Assembly

Pt England School has kicked off Term 4 with an Immersion Assembly. Every start of the term, Pt England School holds an Immersion Assembly in their school hall to start off their term and also their inquiry topic. The topic for this term is ch-ch- ch- ch - Changes! The school consists of five teams, each team teaches different year levels. The teachers at Pt England also act and perform performances or make movies during the school holidays so that they can introduce it in the immersion assembly. Pt England School’s principal is Mr Burt and the associate principal, Mrs Nua. The two of them were standing positioned at the front of the school hall. Cooking corn fritters, they had a small cooking station. The two of them were serving out corn fritters, while they were watching each of the items from the five teams that were to follow.

Team 1’s item was about matter and physical changes. The teachers were dressed as witches. After that they had made a birthday cake out of cardboard. Many, many students were cheering and also the other teachers who also helped with their performance.

Team 2 teachers had made a movie. Throughout the term they are focusing on buoyancy. Their movie contains objects that sink or float. Teachers from team 2 have thrown objects in a pool to see if it sinks or floats. First object was a can of food in it. Obviously it sunk because food can be heavy. The second object was a tennis ball. When they threw it in their the tennis ball floated as if it is really light. Last but not least was one of the teacher's son. Her name is Miss Eadie. Miss Eadie grabbed her son and threw him into the swimming pool. Miss Eadie’s son floated.

Next up is the teachers from team 3. They have been looking at scientific experiments and dissolving substance in water which is a chemical reaction. One of the teachers from team 3 which is Mr Moran, who was doing a fizzing vinegar experiment. The other teacher Miss Scanlan who was also doing a experiment using milk, dishwashing liquid, food colouring. They were also acting as russian scientists like the crazy russian hacker.

Second to last is team 4 and they have made a movie about mythbusters and on various scientific experiments. In their movie they have been making up their own mythbusters. A teacher named Mr Goodwin who is part of team 4 was giving an example to him in the movie that when he drinks coffee every morning he sleeps during his learning time with his students. Another teacher named Mr Somerville was also giving an example to him is when he looks at his laptop too much his eyes turn into squares.

Last of all is the awesome teachers from team 5. Who did a live performance - Solids, Liquids and Gases and also states of matter. Teachers from team 5 were entertaining the audience and that they were in character. They were also testing on one another. On the stage there was a man name Mr Fuzzy Wuzzy Vottom (is a team 5 teacher) and his assistant/slave which is one of the team 5 teachers.

Mr Fuzzy Wuzzy Vottom was doing three experiment to threer teachers named Mrs Tele’a, Miss Berry and Miss Clark. The slave had got a water balloon to do it on Mrs Tele’a. The slave then counted 1, 2, 3 and above her head Mrs Ilaoa the slave had popped the water balloon and SPLASH!!! All of the water was on Mrs Tele’a’s head and she was so excited that they did another one on her. Next was Miss Berry. She didn’t wanted to get wet but she had to do it for the audience. The experiment is a Liquid into gas Pepsi experiment. It was now Miss Berry’s turn to get wet. Mrs Ilaoa finally opened the pepsi and it sprayed all over Miss Berry’s face, but luckily she was wearing big fat goggles. Now the last one was Miss Clark. She had to put ice through her back and the whole school had to see if she will giggle. Miss Ilaoa then did another round of ice through her back.

That was now the end of the immersion assembly.
