Term 4 Immersion Assembly

Hello people, the is the start of a new term which is Term 4. The topic for this term is called Musical Madness!!!. Teachers from different teams have created their own skit or item during the school holidays to present to the students of Pt England for the last term of 2017. Each team did a very good job entertaining us with their awesome skits and singing. 

To start off this term we had an eye-opening performance by the remarkable senior management team and one astonishing teacher who are followed by Mr Burt, Mrs Nua, Mr Somerville, Mr Jacobson and Mr Wiseman (astonishing teacher). They were singing their new song Musical Madness Saves the Day. Each teacher had an instrument to play. Mr 
Burt was playing the guitar, Mrs Nua had her tambourine, Mr Somerville was rocking out his drums, Mr Jacobson playing with his trumpet and Mr Wiseman playing the bass. Together they made a wonderful band.

Team 1 teachers did a item when they were playing cards and listening to music. There focus for this term is listening to music and how it affects their emotions. Team 2 did an amazing performance of Miss Gaston singing "The Lion sleeps tonight". As she was singing other teachers came in with different instruments. Miss Peck was playing the castanet, Miss Tumahai was playing the xylophone and last was Miss Nalder playing the bongos. 

Teachers from Team 3 made a movie about songs in real life. They were also lip syncing to different types of songs as they were talking to each other. The teachers involved Mr Moran, Miss King, Miss Eadie and Miss Davis. They were singing different songs. Team 4 teachers made a little movie kind of like carpool karaoke but they were singing different songs in a car. Each of them had a turn driving while they were singing their hearts out!! The teachers are followed by Mr Somerville, Mr Goodwin, Miss Scanlan, Miss Parent, Miss West and Miss Buchanan. 

Last but not least was the wonderful Team 5 teachers who performed an excellent item. The group of teachers are Mr Wiseman, Mrs Ilaoa, Mrs Tele'a, Ms Tapuke and Whaea Kelly. They were acting as if they were a family and they also watched the movie Lion King for their family movie night. There was different music in the audio and whenever it changes their emotions change too. It was really funny and amazing.

My favourite was Team 4 and 3 and 5. They had wonderful movies and made me laugh the whole time. It is pretty sad for me because it is the last Immersion assembly before I go to college.

Term 3 Immersion Assembly

It was Monday 24th of July. It is the first week of term 3 for 2017. Today we had our annual school immersion assembly for a great start for term 3. In every start of a new term Pt England School starts of the day with our school immersion assembly. Each item is held by a group of teachers who have been working hard over the holidays to create a movie, skit, or an item. The topic for this term is called Guardians of the Galaxy.

Team 1 is the first team to start off. Group of teachers have made a song about 6 teachers going to space. They took off with their flying cars and went and flew to outer space where all the planets are.

Next is team 2's movie which is very similar to team 1's. Their movie was awesome and also the teachers was dancing and singing. The song was about space, stars, planets and other cool things in space. 

Team 3 is next and their movie was about the "Days of our Lives". Teachers from team 3 have created a movie about time which is what they are learning about for this term as part of our inquiry. It included dancing and singing. 

Immersion Assembly

Pt England School has kicked off Term 4 with an Immersion Assembly. Every start of the term, Pt England School holds an Immersion Assembly in their school hall to start off their term and also their inquiry topic. The topic for this term is ch-ch- ch- ch - Changes! The school consists of five teams, each team teaches different year levels. The teachers at Pt England also act and perform performances or make movies during the school holidays so that they can introduce it in the immersion assembly. Pt England School’s principal is Mr Burt and the associate principal, Mrs Nua. The two of them were standing positioned at the front of the school hall. Cooking corn fritters, they had a small cooking station. The two of them were serving out corn fritters, while they were watching each of the items from the five teams that were to follow.

Team 1’s item was about matter and physical changes. The teachers were dressed as witches. After that they had made a birthday cake out of cardboard. Many, many students were cheering and also the other teachers who also helped with their performance.

Team 2 teachers had made a movie. Throughout the term they are focusing on buoyancy. Their movie contains objects that sink or float. Teachers from team 2 have thrown objects in a pool to see if it sinks or floats. First object was a can of food in it. Obviously it sunk because food can be heavy. The second object was a tennis ball. When they threw it in their the tennis ball floated as if it is really light. Last but not least was one of the teacher's son. Her name is Miss Eadie. Miss Eadie grabbed her son and threw him into the swimming pool. Miss Eadie’s son floated.

Next up is the teachers from team 3. They have been looking at scientific experiments and dissolving substance in water which is a chemical reaction. One of the teachers from team 3 which is Mr Moran, who was doing a fizzing vinegar experiment. The other teacher Miss Scanlan who was also doing a experiment using milk, dishwashing liquid, food colouring. They were also acting as russian scientists like the crazy russian hacker.

Second to last is team 4 and they have made a movie about mythbusters and on various scientific experiments. In their movie they have been making up their own mythbusters. A teacher named Mr Goodwin who is part of team 4 was giving an example to him in the movie that when he drinks coffee every morning he sleeps during his learning time with his students. Another teacher named Mr Somerville was also giving an example to him is when he looks at his laptop too much his eyes turn into squares.

Last of all is the awesome teachers from team 5. Who did a live performance - Solids, Liquids and Gases and also states of matter. Teachers from team 5 were entertaining the audience and that they were in character. They were also testing on one another. On the stage there was a man name Mr Fuzzy Wuzzy Vottom (is a team 5 teacher) and his assistant/slave which is one of the team 5 teachers.

Mr Fuzzy Wuzzy Vottom was doing three experiment to threer teachers named Mrs Tele’a, Miss Berry and Miss Clark. The slave had got a water balloon to do it on Mrs Tele’a. The slave then counted 1, 2, 3 and above her head Mrs Ilaoa the slave had popped the water balloon and SPLASH!!! All of the water was on Mrs Tele’a’s head and she was so excited that they did another one on her. Next was Miss Berry. She didn’t wanted to get wet but she had to do it for the audience. The experiment is a Liquid into gas Pepsi experiment. It was now Miss Berry’s turn to get wet. Mrs Ilaoa finally opened the pepsi and it sprayed all over Miss Berry’s face, but luckily she was wearing big fat goggles. Now the last one was Miss Clark. She had to put ice through her back and the whole school had to see if she will giggle. Miss Ilaoa then did another round of ice through her back.

That was now the end of the immersion assembly.     

Immersion Assembly

WALT: give detail in every writing and to make it enthusiastic

It was Monday 25th of July 2016. Children from Pt England School are back from their 2 weeks holidays. That day was Immersion Assembly. Our school has immersion assemblies every start of a term. As I entered the team 5 “street” I can see all of my teachers dressed in different kinds of costumes. Our team leader Mrs Tele’a was dressed in a lady suit and the hoster for the Olympics Games. The other teachers were also dressed, but they were dressed in types of clothes that a competitor would wear and use for the olympics. I can’t wait to see the team performances!

We finally entered the school hall and as we entered the hall the song “We are the champions” by queen was blaring out while we were entering the hall. Also when that song was playing I then thought to myself I think the theme for this term is “We are the champions” and I was right.  

The first team to perform was Team 1. They are looking at how to keep fit , also in terms of the way they eat, and their health. Team 2 was the next item up. They were talking about geography and studies of countries. During the holidays, team 2 teachers were making a movie about flying from GI (Glen Innes) to Rio De Janeiro.

Next item was team 3. Team 3 made a movie about Family Feud. Teachers from team 3 were talking about what sport New Zealand olympians compete in the Olympic Games. Team 4 was talking about how olympians travel to Rio De Janeiro and getting the Zika Virus. A lot of olympians has the virus so they drop out of the Games.

Now and finally is Team 5. In fact team 5 teachers were the only one performing live in the stage. Accept for the other teams. Our teachers were so funny that I couldn't handle my laugh. I agree that they should keep on performing live but make it more hilarious.

My favourite part of the immersion assembly was teacher from different teams participating in the entertaining items. I hope they can make it more fun and sporty.

 

"as i see it" Immersion Assembly Term 2

On the first day back for Term 2, we had Immersion assembly. Teachers were performing their own items for each teams. In the holidays the teachers were creating movies in one of the items. As I walk inside the school hall I can literally see Mr Jacobsen wearing a enormous paint pallet with a full size brush but just the top of it because his body was the body of a paint brush. 

The first item for Term 2 was team 1. Team 1's item was all about their " favourite things things." The song was from a sound track sung by Maria from the movie of Sound of Music. Julie Andrews was singing this song when she was young. Miss Wild's favourite thing is her pet Chihuahua Joey, Mrs George's favourite thing and to eat is Whittaker's chocolate, the Hokey Pokey, Mrs Lal's favourite thing is soccer and last but not least is Miss Peck's Pandora bracelet and her teddy bear.

Team 2's item was all about the seasons. The season's are Autumn, Winter, Summer and Spring. In their block each class has their own season. Teachers from team 2 are Miss Szymanik, Miss Eadie, Miss Nalder and Miss Tumahai. Those 4 teachers created a short 2 and a half movie. They've talked about what their inquiry is about and so on they did. I like seasons but sometimes I don't really like winter because it makes people sick and ill especially me.

Now onto Team 3's item was about grand designs and also architecture. Grand designs is a TV show on TV3 when people build their own decorated homes and team 3 are now starting to plan and build some awesome type 3D grand designs. The teachers from team 3 are Mr Blakey, Mrs Belt, Mrs Stickland, Miss King, Miss Davis and Mr Moran. Team 3 has created a movie regarding to grand designs, 2 teachers building a house but it was actually a tent inside Pt England School. Once the building was built people who lived inside the house explained what the house looked like inside. So inside the tent is all parts of the houses together. Like the toilet, lounge and other rooms.

WOW what a lovely movie I've watched. Team 4 has surprised me with the best "as i see it" movie. The movie was called The Vengers. Therefore the movie starts with an evil teddy named Bear Baxendine was trying steal a netbook inside the classroom. Two super heroes were trying to get Bear Baxendine but they were weak to get them. So The Vengers came and defeated the evil Bear bazendine and putted him inside prison. Bear Baxendine is never to be seen again!!!

And now the finalist Team 5!!!! Our item was all about the waka and our school colours. Hokule'a, Hinemoana, Hikianalia and Te Aurere. My colour is Hokule'a and each teacher is dressed to each colour. They were having a race to which team colour won. And the team colour who won was........., HOKULE'A. CHEEEHOOO. Yay my school colour won!!!!. I wanted to support my maths teacher Mrs Telea. Mrs Telea was Hinemoana and I thought she was going to win but she is still the winner if she was. "GO Mrs Telea" I shouted. She was nicely dressed and the blue was a nice sea colour. She represents the beautiful guardian of the sea. GO!!! Hinemoana.
             

My Immersion Assembly Recount

Walt: use different types of sentences to improve writing

Has your teacher ever fed you healthy food during assembly? They gave out healthy food like cream picalets, little pancakes, sandwiches, carrots and celery such as sandwiches with different fillings in it. But the cream piculets and little pancakes were from Mr Burt, Mrs Nua and Mrs Garden. The topic for this term is called Tinkering tools and toys.

Classes seven, six and 8 were lining up in their lines to go to assembly. When we got to the hall we sat down. We saw a weird flying drone helicopter flying in a spot and controlled by a touch phone isn’t that cool?  The assembly started so Mr burt gave the microphone to Ana so we can say the karakia. After that Mr Burt was talking about the korero.

Finally Mr Burt was finished so Team One did there item. Miss George came up and talked about healthy food, healthy playground and that there will not be a dental clinic anymore. Team One showed us a long video about sandwiches that's large and small, fruits thats doing facials and funny stuff. After that Team One was finished so it was team 2.

Team 2’s item was a bit boring but there were teachers dressed as Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore. Miss Berry was Eeyore and Eeyore was sad that he can’t do his own house. So his friends Piglet, Tigger, Winnie the Pooh helped Eeyore build his house. And Christopher Robin (Mr Barks) came and helped too. As soon as Eeyore’s house was finished Team 2’s item was finished.

Team 3’s one is when Miss King came up and talked about rainy days and that they have nothing to do when its rainy day. So Team 3 showed us a bit long video when its raining and then they activities and other games. Team 3’s item was finished so it was team 4 (my team). Team 4 showed us another video about what to do when its a rainy day. So another video came up and it was my teacher Mr Somerville, pretending to be in a video game and defeating enemies.

That was finished so it was team 5. Finally team 5 was finished and then Mr Barks came and talked about a hovercraft. He built it and he asked Mr Somerville to come and be and have a try on it because it can float in the ground. I felt excited to go and see it but some were a bit boring. Team 5 was the best item i’ve seen because they were dressed up as armies. I hope you Enjoy My Writing.
