This presentation is a introduction to our statistics and probability. For this week my maths group and I are beginning this week of with statistics and probability. Statistics and probability is something that will happen, certain, possible or impossible.

Area Perimeter

WALT -  Explain or show the steps we took to solve each measurement problem

Today I have published my maths presentation called Area and Perimeter. For this week Tapawha and I are learning to find the perimeter and area of 2D straight-sided shapes. I have completed it and worked out how to solve each equations. What I learned from this is that the perimeter is the distance all the way around the outside of a shape. The area is the number of square units inside a shape. Hope you enjoy.

Ratio & Porpotion

WALT: Explain or show the steps we took to solve each word problem (Ratios & Proportions)

I have completed my maths presentation about Ratio and Proportions. My maths group and I had to solve each word problems and explain how we got our answers. Some of the questions were hard but I managed to get help with my friend. Hope you enjoy learning about ratio and proportions.

Today I have finished my maths presentation. It is about fractions and learning how to use repeated addition to solve part unknown questions. My maths group and I watched a video about how to solve equations like what 3/5 of 15 equals.

WALT: Converting units of measure and convert between different metric lengths

Today I have published my maths presentation about converting measurements. We are learning about using metric units. The units are km, mm, cm, m. We use it to measure objects.

Hello everyone, this is my multiplication pyramid that I have completed.

ICAN TEST Results

Today my maths group and I have been given our ICAN Test results. Some of us have improved and some of us need to push our selves to be in the stage for maths. My results for the ICAN test have improved a bit but I still want ton push myself to be in the right level for maths. The area I have improved is the Place value. I may have gone back a level but I still want to push myself. My learning goals now for these areas are to practice and work on my fractions and number sequence.

This week my maths class and I have been focusing on fraction. It is because some students did not do quite well with their fractions when they were doing their gloss test. So our maths teacher created a presentation to help us remember how our knowledge on fractions.

Walt: use screencastify as apart of our learning for maths this week. My maths group and I also used it for solving fraction problems

This week my maths group and I (Tapawha and Tapaono) were learning how to use screencastify. As part of our learning. Some students already knew how to use it but some were already recording their clips and it turned out great. This is my wk 1/2 maths presentation for this term. It is about word problems and using various strategies to solve word problems.

Tapawha Learning with the teacher

Today my group and I (Tapawha) were meeting our teacher for our gloss test results. We were to look at our test results and see if we have improved. My results were fine but I still needed to improve and practice on my division, fraction and all kinds of maths work.

After looking through our results for our gloss test. My maths teacher (Mrs Tele'a) and my group were just going through some problems we were stuck on. So we started off by working our some fractions. Like how to write 1/2 or 1/10, putting the number in order. Smallest to largest. we also made equations like 1/2 of 40 = ? We started of by thinking of a division, 40 divided by 2 which equals 20. So 1/2 of 40 = 20. We moved in decimals and did the same thing. Like what is 1/2 in decimal from. The answer 0.5.

Probability

WALT: Investigate situations that have involve chance and different outcomes

This is my week 7/8 maths presentation for this week. My group and I are focusing on probability. The learning intention for this week is to investigate situations that involve chance and identifying possible outcomes. My favourite slide from the presentation was slide 5 because the activity was really easy to complete and easy to answer.

The definition of the mean in a statistical investigation is commonly referred to as the average. It is the total of all the data divided by the amount of data shown.

For example: if we have this range of data 3,5,7,1,2,3,6,8

Answer the questions in a different colour

The definition of the median is the middle number within a set of numbers that have been put in order from size (biggest to smallest or smallest to biggest)

For example: 2,6,4,1,9 = 1,2,4,6,9 and the middle number is 4.

BUT say if there is more than one middle number… the median is found by taking the number midway between the middle pair of numbers:

3,6,1,4,9,2 = 1,2,3,4,6,9 → 3 + 4 = 3.5

Activity Three

The mode is the most frequent number in a set of data. The number that occurs most often.

For example: In a set of numbers 3, 7, 8, 4, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3, 9 there is two modes, 3 and 4 because they appear twice in the data set.

Note- There can either be 0, 1 or 2 modes. If there are 3 or more numbers occur the same number of times, there is no mode.

For this week, my maths group and I are learning about Mean, Median, Mode and Range. We had to complete this maths activity using our maths knowledge. For each activity we had to find the mean, median, mode and range. I hope I do more of these activities next time.

MY IKAN TEST RESULT

Today myself and my maths class have been doing an IKAN test. This is picture is the results from my IKAN test. I have some wrong and most right answers. We were lucky because we can do twice but the other time we did we had to do altogether as one class. But now we did it individuals. I am really happy for my results I have from my IKAN test.
